College Basketball Coaches Speak Out in National Survey about Officials
April 4, 2009 - San Antonio, TX - As sports fans prepared for March Madness and the Final Four, collegiate basketball coaches shared
their thoughts about the quality of NCAA Division I men's basketball officiating, according to a national survey released by the Sports
Officiating Research Institute.
The study, which polled individuals in charge of evaluating the performance of men's basketball officials,
collected the opinions of representatives from 40% of Division I schools and 97% of NCAA conferences. Approximately 77% of participants
were coaches (n = 93). Other individuals included directors of men's basketball operations (n =17), and other school representatives,
such as athletic directors, and sports information directors
(n = 10).
